I really don't like much of what kids are calling "hip hop" these days.
Maybe it's just my opinion, but "hip hop" is dead, as far as what the kids are into these days. People are still putting out solid albums, but they never get the shine they deserve. Instead, you just get some recycled thug with a mumble like freestyle. So I tend to live in the past, when baggy pants and skateboards were my thing.
I remember when they interviewed Das Efx on MTV for this video. The MTV personality brought up that they had degrees and gave them an invisible pat on the back. I remember being a kid and even thinking that was fucked up. It was like they wanted to turn to the camera and say "see, some of these blacks are smart!" The media will always be a retarded and socially confused entity.
